Walking in someone else’s shoes is a figure of speech that means to put oneself in another person’s position and understand their feelings, thoughts, and experiences.

It is a way to develop empathy and compassion for others. It shows the other person that you care and that their well-being matters.

Empathy is positive

Empathy is a positive emotion that has immense healing power. It allows us to understand and share the feelings of another person without judgement of who they are or what they might be experiencing.

We all face challenges in our lifetime where we need and want somebody to understand us.

When we have empathy for another person, we put ourselves into their situation.

We listen to what they have to say, and as the saying goes, “we walk in their shoes” and try to imagine what they are going through. Some might ask themselves “how difficult the others person’s situation been?”

By listening to their story with kindness and understanding, can make a profound difference to their lives. We can help them to view things from a clearer more positive mindset.
